Ambassador Castellani pays tribute to the victims of the Srebrenica genocide

(ANSA) - ROMA, 01 OTT - The Italian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarah Eti Castellani, visited the Srebrenica-Potocari Memorial, paying tribute to the victims of the genocide and meeting with the mothers of Srebrenica. The visit was attended by the EU Special Representative, Ambassador Luigi Soreca, as well as ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from the embassies of all EU member states in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani noted on the occasion of the most recent anniversary of the genocide, for thirty-one years the Mothers of Srebrenica have been demanding truth and justice “with a dignity that moves the world.” Srebrenica represented “one of the most serious failures of the international community” and “remains, even today, a powerful warning.” For this reason, “remembrance is not a mere formality: it is a duty.
