8 booked in crackdown on online gambling, financial fraud in Faisalabad

TOBA TEK SINGH: The Faisalabad circle of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has booked eight suspects during action against online gambling and alleged illegal financial activities. According to the FIA officials, during the inquiry, several online gaming/gambling platforms, including U7777 Game, TD777, Game89, EPIWIN, B9 Game and S9 Game were identified, revealing real money betting and payment facilities through bank transfers, mobile wallets and cryptocurrency. The FIA officials say that a total credit turnover of Rs119.93 billion was revealed in the accounts of 11 single-member companies, while an amount of Rs8.586bn was identified in five branch-less collection accounts through approximately 10.5 million transactions. According to FIA investigators, evidence related to illegal money transfers, alleged layering and digital hawala/hundi business, besides possible use of USDT/crypto channels, have also come to light in the case. The FIA has initially registered a case against eight suspects under the relevant provisions of the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act and the Pakistan Penal Code. They say that the role of officials of banks and other related institutions will be determined during further investigation, which is underway at the FIA Composite Circle, Faisalabad. MAN DIES: A man, who was kidnapped, and was found injured, died at the hospital on Thursday. Reports say that Basharat, 42, of Chak 356-JB, a van driver, suddenly went missing on Wednesday, while his mobile phone was found switched-off. His family kept searching for him, but to no avail. On Thursday, he was found lying critically injured near Chak 363-JB, with his throat slit with a sharp knife. He was immediately shifted to Gojra Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, where doctors referred him to the Allied Hospital given his deteriorating condition. On being brought to the Allied Hospital, doctors declared him dead. A case has been registered against unidentified killers. CASE ‘SOLVED’: Gojra city police claimed on Thursday to have solved the blind murder case of a bank security guard, arresting his son for allegedly getting him killed by a friend. As per the police, Ijaz Ahmad, who was security guard at a bank, was on his way home from the bank a few days ago, when two unidentified men riding a motorcycle intercepted him. As he stopped, one of the bikers, shot him and fled away with his accomplice. Gojra city police registered a case against unidentified killers.During the investigation, the police detained Ijaz’s son Ahmed, who confessed that he planned his father’s murder as he would admonish him for his wrongdoings. The suspect said that he convinced his friend Sajid to shoot his father. As per the plan, they intercepted Ijaz, and Sajid allegedly shot him dead. The police have arrested Ahmed and Sajid.
