Dual system imposed on country will collapse soon, Haleem tells PTI workers

PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh addresses the rally in Khanot town of Jamshoro district on Friday.—Dawn DADU: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) held a rally in the Khanot area of Manjhand tehsil in Jamshoro district as part of its ongoing street movement, attracting several hundred party workers and supporters. PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh, Insaf Lawyers Forum Sindh President Advocate Faisal Mughal, PTI Karachi President Faheem Khan, PTI Hyderabad Division President Aminullah Musa Khail, lawmakers Sajid Mir and Chaudhry Owais, and Hyderabad leaders Pir Ghulam Murtaza Jilani and Dr Riaz, among others, attended the rally. Speaking to the participants, Haleem Adil Sheikh said people were coming out in support of Imran Khan and PTI now even in small towns and cities. “The people of Sindh have taken to the streets for Imran Khan’s release,” he said, adding that “Khan is in jail for the sake of the nation and the country”. He said the people were also preparing for the PTI’s Sept 27 protest. Mr Sheikh said that the “dual system imposed on the country would collapse soon”, and added that the ex-PM Imran Khan had envisioned a Pakistan where the rich and poor should be treated equally under the law. Hundreds take part in Jamshoro rally for Imran’s release “The imposed Form-47 system cannot last long,” he said, adding that Imran Khan’s release would bring political stability, which, according to him, was essential for economic stability. The PTI leader accused the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government in Sindh of depriving the people of their rights and said the party had turned not only major cities, but also smaller towns, into “ruins”. Despite billions of rupees in development funds, he claimed, people across Sindh remained deprived of education, healthcare, clean drinking water and other basic facilities. He said roads across the province were in poor condition, and workers and farmers were being denied their due rights. Haleem Adil Sheikh said more than Rs3 billion was collected annually in royalties from Khanot, yet residents of the area remained deprived of clean drinking water and other basic amenities. “This is the constituency of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, yet its people are deprived of basic facilities,” he said. “If they cannot provide facilities to the people of their own constituency, what can they give to the people of the entire province?” Haleem Adil Sheikh also alleged that farmers’ rights were being denied and agriculture had been destroyed in Sindh. He said the poor were being deprived of their livelihood because of “incompetent rulers”, while repeated increases in petroleum prices and rising inflation were placing the entire burden on ordinary citizens. “The national economy is declining, while poverty and unemployment are pushing young people into despair,” he said. He pledged that PTI Sindh would continue highlighting the problems faced by the people of the province and raise its voice for their rights. PTI Karachi President Faheem Khan said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi would arrive in Sindh on Sept 3 for a four-day visit along with the party’s central leadership. “Sindh is known for its hospitality and its people will warmly welcome their guests,” he said. Faheem Khan claimed that the people of Sindh had become disillusioned with the PPP’s “long and corrupt rule”. “We have come out to secure the rights of the people of Sindh,” he said, adding that the KP chief minister’s visit would prove historic. Insaf Lawyers Forum Sindh President Advocate Faisal Mughal urged the people to stand with Imran Khan, saying he was the only leader capable of steering the country out of its current crises. “PTI is the guarantee of Paki­stan’s development and prosperity,” he said. “We are fighting for the people and will ensure that the residents of Sindh get their due rights.” PTI Hyderabad Division President Aminullah Musa Khail said the party would “take back” the rights of the citizens of Sindh from those who had deprived them for so long. He said residents even in the Sindh chief minister’s constituency were depri­ved of basic facilities and added that the people of Sindh had now become aware of their entitlements.
