    RAWALPINDI: Security arrangements are being enhanced for Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) with security personnel remaining on high alert until all processions and Milad gatherings conclude. Close monitoring of fourth schedulers and individuals affiliated with proscribed organisations must be ensured, along with strict enforcement of all restrictions imposed on them. These directives came from the Secretary Home Punjab Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi while briefing the regional police officers (RPOs), DPOs, commissioners and deputy commissioners via video link on Friday. All the divisional police chiefs were directed to prepare a comprehensive security plan in line with the Home Department’s directive to ensure the implementation of SOPs. Surveillance of fourth schedulers, proscribed organisations’ members ordered As part of the security plan, City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera on Friday visited different areas of the city regarding Eid Miladun Nabi. The CPO visited the procession route, reviewed the security arrangements and gave instructions to the SSP operations and other senior officers regarding the best security arrangements. The CPO also met the office bearers of the peace committee and discussed the security and traffic arrangements. He added that foolproof security and traffic arrangements will be ensured on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH). The best arrangements will be made for the procession through full coordination with the district administration. As part of the security plan, walkthrough gates and metal detectors will be installed at the entry and exit points of major gatherings, while female police personnel will be deployed for the security of women participants. The markets and shops along procession routes will remain closed following thorough security checks. The directives further call for the deployment of trained snipers along sensitive routes, the placement of plainclothes police personnel and the establishment of police pickets at important locations in accordance with prescribed SOPs. All processions are to be mapped, police patrolling enhanced and streets adjoining procession and gathering routes cordoned off. Emergency exit routes for major gatherings and processions must be identified, while construction debris in the vicinity of processions and gatherings must be removed. Additional CCTV cameras are to be installed along sensitive routes and connected to the Safe City monitoring system. Video and audio coverage of all major processions and gatherings must also be ensured. Concerned SHOs will obtain advance written certificates from organisers confirming satisfactory security arrangements for processions and gatherings. Food Safety Officers will inspect food being served at sabeels and langars. Traffic flow and alternative traffic plans will also be arranged around major processions and Milad gatherings. The home department has directed that special attention be given to the security of prominent religious scholars and leaders, strict implementation of the ban on display of weapons, and enhanced security of all places of worship. Special attention will also be given to the movement and security of Chinese nationals and other foreign citizens. According to the Punjab Home Department spokesperson, illegal use of loudspeakers, wall chalking, hate speeches and aerial firing are strictly prohibited. All available media platforms should be effectively utilised to promote the message of inter-sect harmony. Effective cyber monitoring has also been ordered to prevent any content promoting extremism, sectarianism or disruption of public order. The Home Department has directed that bomb disposal squads and fire brigades remain fully operational and in communication with district wireless controls. Hospitals must remain on high alert, while Rescue 1122, field hospitals, clinics-on-wheels, ambulances, first-aid camps and arrangements for the provision of drinking water must be ensured. The availability of essential staff, medicines and other necessary supplies must also be ensured. The Inspector General of Police Punjab has been directed to submit details of intelligence-based operations, search operations and surprise checks to the Home Department on a daily basis, while the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) will play a central role in intelligence-based operations. Meetings of tehsil mosque committees must also be held before 12 Rabiul Awwal.
