    KARACHI: Unknown assailants gunned down a policeman off Superhighway on Monday evening, officials said. SITE-Superhighway Industrial Area SHO Mohammed Nawaz said that Head Constable Muhammad Zaman had left his residence for his duty at the police station. He was on a motorcycle and in police uniform. When he reached near Jamali Pull, assailants riding two motorbikes opened fire on him and rode away. An AVLC spokesperson said the deceased were members of the inter-provincial “Chandio gang”, which allegedly stole vehicles from Karachi and sold them in Jhat Pat, Jhal Magsi and Osta Mohammed in Balochistan. He said the main buyer of stolen vehicles from Karachi was Alaf Jamali, a resident of Jhat Pat. The deceased had criminal records and had been involved in bank robberies, illegal arms, narcotics offences and vehicle theft.
