Greetings on the opening of the fifth Russian Winemaking Forum

Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to the participants and guests of the fifth Russian Winemaking Forum. The message reads, in part: “Over recent years, Russia’s viticulture and winemaking sector has made significant progress. New enterprises are being established, existing wineries are being modernised, product ranges are expanding, and quality is improving. A major boost for the industry’s development was given by the adoption of the Federal Law On Viticulture and Winemaking in the Russian Federation in 2019, which established the legal framework for systematic state support for Russian producers. It is also encouraging to see industry leaders drawing on the finest traditions of the many generations of Russian winemakers. Today, you face ambitious and important challenges. It is essential to more actively integrate advanced technologies, the results of scientific research and breeding work into production, while also devoting constant attention to the training of skilled specialists. Special oversight is required to enhance the competitiveness of Russian wines and their promotion in both domestic and international markets. It is also important to develop modern, high-quality tourism and hospitality infrastructure in the regions. I am confident that this forum will proceed in a creative and constructive spirit, offering opportunities for exchanging experience, strengthening business ties and launching new promising initiatives.”
