Warsaw: Mountaineering and Mountain Safety at the Heart of Italy-Poland Cooperation

Mountaineering and mountain safety techniques were the focus of the joint training between a delegation from the State Police Alpine Training Center in Moena (Trento) and the Centralny Pododdział Kontrterrorystyczny Policji (BOA), a special unit of the Polish Police, in Warsaw. As part of the bilateral police cooperation agreements between Italy and Poland, according to a statement, officers from both countries shared methodologies, procedures, and specialized techniques related to progression in rugged terrain, rope maneuvers, self-rescue and rock-face rescue operations, as well as emergency management in complex mountain environments. The program also made it possible to build on the respective experience gained in the field, helping to strengthen the professional skills of the personnel involved and further consolidate cooperation between the Italian and Polish police forces. “The exchange of best practices and specialized knowledge helps promote a shared culture of safety and training, in line with the two countries’ ongoing commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation,” stated Luca Franchetti Pardo, the Italian Ambassador to Warsaw. The initiative, supported during the organizational phase by the office of the security expert at the Central Directorate of Criminal Police in Warsaw, confirms the role of the State Police’s Alpine Training Center as a center of excellence in specialized training in mountain environments and demonstrates the value of international cooperation as a tool for professional growth and the sharing of best operational practices.
