Following the devastating floods on Tuesday, 30th June, in Accra, President John Dramani Mahama directed the Minister for Finance to release GH¢300 million from the Contingency Fund: GH¢150 million for emergency relief and GH¢150 million for mitigation works. Hours later, on the floor of Parliament, the Minister for the Interior announced a different figure: GH¢350 million, comprising GH¢200 million for relief and GH¢150 million for flood control.

The Ministry of Finance has transferred GH¢350 million from the Contingency Fund to the National Disaster Management Committee to support emergency relief and flood mitigation efforts following the recent devastating floods that affected parts of the country. The release of the funds follows a directive by President John Dramani Mahama to Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson to mobilise resources to assist affected communities and strengthen measures to reduce the impact of future flooding.

Global InfoAnalytics poll puts Mahama approval at 71%, highest since 2020
President John Dramani Mahama's job approval rating has risen to 71%, up from 67% in March 2026, according to the June 2026 National Tracking Poll by Global InfoAnalytics released on Sunday, June 15. The polling firm says the figure represents the highest approval recorded for any sitting president in its regular tracking series since 2020. Dr Timur Sultangaziyev of Kazakhstan and Dr Kwabena Mintah Akandoh of Ghana are the Chairs of the Committee A and Committee B, respectively. During the high-level welcome, H.E. Elisabeth Baume‑Schneider, Federal Councillor of the Swiss Confederation, addressed the Health Assembly on behalf of the host country, followed by remarks from H.E.
