ISLAMABAD: Security forces killed 10 terrorists in separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa between Sept 15 and 17, while six soldiers were martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast, the military’s media wing said on Thursday. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an intelligence-based operation was carried out in North Waziristan after reports of the presence of terrorists in the area. Security forces effectively targeted their hideout, killing six khwarij belonging to Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij in an intense exchange of fire. The state uses the term Fitna al-Khawarij for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). In another clash in Hangu, four terrorists were killed. Military’s media wing says six soldiers martyred in IED blast On Sept 17, an IED struck a security forces convoy, resulting in the martyrdom of six soldiers, according to the ISPR. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the terrorists killed in the operations, the ISPR stated. It added that the slain men were involved in several terrorist activities in these areas. Awaran operation Separately, security forces killed three terrorists in an intelligence-based operation in the Badrang area of Balochistan’s Awaran district. A large quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the possession of the terrorists of Fitna al Hindustan, according to security sources.
