    Sitael Mission to Chile: Focus on Cooperation in the Space Sector

    Santiago, Chile

    (ANSA) - SANTIAGO DEL CILE, 09 SET - A mission by Sitael, a company belonging to Angel Holding and one of Italy’s leading private firms in the space sector, has concluded in Chile. The group already has a presence in the country through Mermec Chile, which has been managing national railway diagnostic systems since 2012. During the mission, in collaboration with the Universidad de los Andes, Sitael organized the international seminar “Space Economy between Italy and Chile: Industrial Collaboration, Innovation, and Economic Development,” during which it showcased its expertise in satellite manufacturing and integration, as well as the provision of satellite data-based services. According to a press release, the event was attended by the Italian Ambassador to Chile, Valeria Biagiotti, who delivered opening remarks. With the support of the Italian Embassy in Santiago, the company delegation met with representatives from the Chilean ministries of Defense, Mining, and Science, Technology, Knowledge, and Innovation, presenting the potential applications of space technologies in their respective areas of expertise. Sitael signed two Memoranda of Understanding, one with the Universidad de los Andes in Santiago and the other with the Chilean company Dts (Desarrollo de Tecnologías y Sistemas), a subsidiary of Enaer (Empresa Nacional de Aeronáutica), founded in 1991 and specializing in the provision of services, the development of technologies, and systems integration. A representative from Mermec Chile also took part in the mission; with the support of the Italian Embassy and ICE—the Santiago Office—he held meetings with local operators in the railway sector to explore new opportunities for collaboration in the Chilean market. “We are grateful to the Embassy for supporting us in preparing for and carrying out this industrial mission: the agreements reached mark a significant milestone in a journey that began two years ago. We are ready to leverage all technical, scientific, and industrial expertise in Chile to carry out space projects with significant social and economic impact,” stated Marco Molina, Director of International Relations at Sitael. “Italy represents true excellence in the space sector, and we can boast a steadily growing collaborative relationship with Chile, thanks in part to the important work carried out by IILA (the International Italian-Latin American Organization),” said Ambassador Biagiotti during the reception hosted at the Italian Embassy in Santiago. “We are particularly pleased with the outcome of Angel Holding’s business mission and will continue to provide our full support to foster the presence and collaboration opportunities of our companies in Chile,” she added.
