Argentina: Ambassador Fabrizio Nicoletti’s Mission to San Miguel de Tucumán

(ANSA) - BUENOS AIRES, 31 AGO - Ambassador Fabrizio Nicoletti, accompanied by the Consul General in Córdoba, Maria Luisa Lapresa, undertook a mission to the Argentine province of Tucumán from August 25 to 28, during which he met with key provincial and municipal authorities, representatives from the business and academic communities, members of the Italian community, and the consular corps, as well as visiting several important industrial, educational, and cultural institutions in the province. Upon his arrival in Tucumán, according to a press release, the Ambassador was welcomed by Consular Correspondent Sergio Bruno Ricciuti and Virginia Ávila, Secretary of State for International and Business Relations of the Province of Tucumán. The first day concluded with a meeting with representatives of the local business community from the Unión Industrial de Tucumán, which provided an opportunity to explore opportunities for economic and commercial collaboration between Italy and Tucumán. The following day, Nicoletti was received by the Vice Governor of the Province of Tucumán, Miguel Acevedo, at the Casa de Gobierno. During the meeting, prospects for collaboration between Italy and the province were discussed in depth, with particular attention to economic relations, investments, and opportunities for cooperation. The mission continued with a visit to the Giosuè Carducci School, attended by the Provincial Minister of Education, Susana Montaldo, who emphasized the importance of promoting the Italian language and culture and the role of educational institutions in maintaining ties between Italy and Argentina. The Ambassador then attended an official luncheon with the rectors of the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán, the Universidad del Norte Santo Tomás de Aquino, and the Universidad de San Pablo-T, which provided an opportunity to explore prospects for academic and international collaboration. The following day continued with visits to local industrial and manufacturing facilities and a meeting with the Italian community in Tucumán and representatives of InterCom.It.Es. at the headquarters of the Italian Society of Tucumán. On the final day of the mission, the Ambassador visited the Honorary Vice Consulate of Italy in Tucumán and the Paseo Italia, inaugurated in 2024, highlighting the significance of these sites and initiatives that bear witness to the presence and history of the Italian community in the region. He then participated in the InterCom.It.Es. meeting at the Casa Histórica de Tucumán, an opportunity to explore the needs of the Italian community and initiatives aimed at strengthening the relationship between Italian institutions and the communities within the district. During a meeting at the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán with university officials, the prospects for international cooperation were explored in greater depth, with a particular focus on the collaboration program with the University of Salerno. Overall, the mission to Tucumán confirmed the depth of the ties between Italy and Argentina and represented an important opportunity to strengthen collaboration in the institutional, economic, business, academic, educational, and cultural spheres, while highlighting the contribution of the large and active Italian community in the province.
