Italian Ikoi Group Enters the Guinness World Records with the World’s Largest Gold Ingot

(ANSA) - ROMA, 31 LUG - Italian ingenuity and technology have earned a place in the Guinness World Records thanks to a project carried out in Australia. The Perth Mint, Western Australia’s historic refinery and mint, has earned a Guinness World Records recognition for the world’s largest gold bar, produced using a casting system designed and built by the Italian group Ikoi, whose name was engraved directly onto the bar in recognition of its technological contribution. Key to the achievement was the patented Flameless Tunnel system developed by Ikoi for melting the bar, along with the special graphite ingot mold designed by Graphite Hi Tech, which made it possible to produce an ingot of unprecedented size while maintaining the highest degree of purity. The Guinness World Records recognition ceremony was also attended by the Italian Consul in Perth, Sergio Federico Nicolaci, along with the Governor of Western Australia, Chris Dawson, Premier Roger Cook, top executives from the Perth Mint, as well as the founder and chairman of the Ikoi Group, Giovanni Faoro, and CEO Michela Ferraro. “This world record bears the hallmark of Italian ingenuity and technology,” Nicolaci stated. “The Ikoi Group’s contribution demonstrates how our country’s manufacturing and engineering expertise continues to play a leading role in the most advanced industrial projects worldwide. The fact that the Perth Mint chose to engrave the name ‘Ikoi’ on the ingot is a recognition that goes far beyond its symbolic value: it means that the contribution of Italian industry will be literally etched into a work destined to be admired by millions of people. It is concrete proof of how collaboration between Italy and Australia can generate outstanding results capable of leaving a mark on the history of innovation.” The Perth Mint, owned by the Government of Western Australia, is one of the world’s leading precious metal refineries and an international leader in gold production and processing. For years, it has collaborated with the Italian group Ikoi, whose technologies and equipment are used in the refining and smelting processes for precious metals at the Perth facility.
