Panama Welcomes an Immersive Exhibition on Great Italian Mosaics

(ANSA) - PANAMA, 26 GIU - The Italian Embassy in Panama and the Italian-Panamanian Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (Camip) inaugurated “Mosaico. An Italian Code of Timeless Art,” a multimedia and immersive exhibition that traces the millennia-old tradition of Italian mosaics. The exhibition will be open to the public at the Town Center Costa del Este through September 19. Produced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and conceived and realized by Magister Art, the exhibition arrives in Panama following an international tour that has already taken it to numerous cities across the Americas and Asia. The exhibition offers an extraordinary opportunity to discover, in a single itinerary, some of Italy’s most important mosaics: works that can normally only be admired by visiting their places of origin, as they are preserved at their respective historic sites. Through seven immersive stations, the exhibition takes visitors on a journey from Imperial Rome and Pompeii to Aquileia, Ravenna, Palermo, and Monreale, Piazza Armerina, and the extraordinary Submerged Archaeological Park of Baia. The official opening took place on Monday, June 22, in the presence of Massimo Dell’Utri, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Italy’s Ambassador to Panama, Giuditta Giorgio, along with Panamanian officials and Italian representatives from the business and cultural sectors of the country on the Isthmus. Bringing Panama closer to the art of mosaics. “Mosaico” is a cultural diplomacy initiative aimed at introducing the Panamanian public to one of the most representative artistic expressions of Italy’s cultural heritage, a symbol of our country’s excellence. Through a combination of art, history, and technology, the exhibition offers the Panamanian public an accessible and immersive experience. The exhibition is also designed as an educational tool. Several educational institutions, schools, and universities have already scheduled guided tours that will allow students to discover classical mosaic art through audiovisual content and interactive tools. For the Italian Embassy, “Mosaico” also represents an opportunity to strengthen ties with the Italian community residing in Panama and to promote a meeting space dedicated to Italian cultural heritage.
